Appocore 2.16 — Clear errors and uploads that finish
A quiet release about the moments when something goes wrong: the platform now says what happened, and uploads and billing no longer fail without a word.
When a user hit a rate limit on sign-in or registration, the platform used to answer as if the server itself had broken, which hid the real cause from the user and from you. Now the answer says what it is: too many requests, slow down. The same goes for two other cases that used to look alike. A wrong address and a record that simply does not exist are now different errors, with messages in all four languages of the platform, so a support conversation can start from the right place.
A typo in a setting no longer ends in an anonymous failure. If a validation pattern in the settings file is malformed, the platform refuses the save with a clear "misconfigured, contact an administrator" message and records which setting is at fault in the log. At deploy time the same check names every broken pattern and stops the release, instead of letting it surface when the first user opens the settings page.
Uploads got the most attention. The limits for starting an upload and for sending its parts had been declared and even published in the settings, but were never switched on in the routes, so endpoints open to guests were not limited at all. They are limited now. The maximum file size is taken from its own setting instead of being tied to the size of a single chunk, and the upload area in the interface reads that same setting, so a file the server would refuse is turned down straight away.
Limits are only useful if they do not break honest users, so the interface now also retries parts that were turned away by a limit. A large upload that runs into the limit pauses for a moment and carries on, instead of stopping halfway through the progress bar.
Billing fix worth checking if you use promo grants. Once a customer had received a promo subscription for a plan, later invoices for the same plan could be issued at the promo price — a paid plan quietly became free for that customer, for good. A price is now used only when it belongs to the plan being billed and to the payment method the invoice goes through. Negotiated corporate prices are not affected and keep working through renewals. If you gave out promo subscriptions before updating, review the invoices issued afterwards for those customers.
